About Us

The Fellowship of Alberta Bears (FAB) is a gay/queer/bi men’s registered not-for-profit society.

Mission

The Fellowship of Alberta Bears is dedicated to providing a gathering space for individuals who appreciate and enjoy the brotherhood of the gay bear community.  While we are Alberta based, we do welcome guys to join from all over the world.  FAB is a body positive, sex positive community group.  We believe that it does not matter whether you are masculine or feminine,  young or old, big or small, furry or smooth; it is all about having a welcoming attitude and caring demeanor. 

We believe in giving back to the community and supporting each other, whether it be through charity fundraisers or creating community events that everyone can enjoy.

Since we were created in 2008 we have raised over $35,000 dollars for various local charities including HIV Edmonton, Campy Fyrefly, Queer Prom, Youth Understanding Youth, The Edmonton Pride Centre, and the Charities of the ISCWR. 

We do have membership cards that will get you discounted entry into many of our events as well as with many of our sponsors!

Why Have Memberships?

FAB is a volunteer run.  The majority of our events are organized as “members only” not to exclude anyone, but to make it easier to organize things like liquor licenses and insurance.  The society protects our Den of Bears (board of directors), volunteers, and members and allows us to throw amazing events that we would not be able to organize otherwise. 

Membership Requirements

Any male identifying person residing in Alberta, and being of the full age of 18 years or older, can become a member upon payment of the fee.  Please remember that this is a group intended for gay, bi, queer individuals who identify as males.  Membership is subject to Den of Bears (Board of Directors) approval.

Society Details

FAB is run by an elected board of directors called the Den of Bears.  These volunteers guide the organization and plan the majority of our events. For more details about the group and the Den of Bears please visit the pages under the Membership menu.
